Gabriella Zejavac Education Portfolio

I am always amazed by how much living in the South has shortchanged my education. It is always surprising to be assigned reading for class from a writer everyone besides me has heard of (e.g. Richard Wright, Octavia Butler, and Toni Morrison). I am always grateful that I got to pursue higher education in the North because I truly learn more every single day. I’m always getting exposed to new cultures and experiences and I actually get to read literature written by minorities. It also doesn’t hurt that teacher salaries are about twice what they are in Florida. I look forward to getting to teach up here.
